Stating at least one (1) experience in your application letter, I can say. is one of the important parts of the application letter. Why? You are selling yourself, convincing the reader that you are highly qualified for the job. With your experience in it, you will motivate or the reader will be stimulated for you to be shortlisted or be called for an interview to shed light on this brief experience you stated.
This work experience should be very brief as you need to consume one (1) paragraph only for this part. It is not telling the story experience per se, but stating along how you become part of a successful accomplishment in an objective. Stating your contribution for three to four sentences is enough. You should be aware that an application letter is one page letter only. All the details you wanted to include should be placed in your CV.
Your experience (if any) should goes like this: "In my previous job as ___________ , I managed to develop a shorter process - a shortcut where the qualify of the service (or product) was not compromised as the monthly sales were uplifted and at the time minimized the time exerted by the line workers."
Though this will motivate the reader for your to be shortlisted, I need you to be very careful in this one as this will be asked again later when you reach the interview section. Of course, you don't have to put something if you don't have experience yet. But you can state some accomplishments too, during your college days. Say, for example, you are a member of the student council or school paper or a seminar you attended where you were one of the successful participants. Just don't put any if you don't have one, anyways, your CV will say it all afterwards.
Again, I would like to emphasize that this is only guide and not exactly the pattern of your application letter for you to get hired. it is your sole responsibility to write your won application letter. Also, I would like to suggest you read other application letter format for better understanding of this type of letter and so on.
